Brewhouse
In the mash/lauter tun, milled malt is mixed with purified water and undergoes the mashing process. Precise control of time and temperature during mashing rests ensures maximum extraction of sugars and amino acids required for further fermentation. After mashing, the wort is filtered from the spent grain through sieves, resulting in a clear wort with optimal gravity and flavor.
The wort kettle is a key process unit where the future taste, aroma, and stability of the beer are formed. It is designed to convert mash into wort. Here, the wort is boiled to eliminate unwanted microorganisms and ensure sterilization. During boiling, hops are added, whose alpha acids give the beer its characteristic bitterness.
The whirlpool is a stage of the brewing process after wort boiling, where the liquid is subjected to a rotational flow in a specially designed conical vessel. The purpose of the whirlpool is to separate solid particles (spent grain residues, protein trub, hop particles) from the liquid. Due to the rotation, the whirlpool collects sediment in a cone at the bottom, while the clear wort is drawn off from the top to the cooling system.
Brewhouses
The core of production is the brewhouse. It is where the base for all fermented products is created. It consists of four vessels connected by process logic or separated from each other. The mash tun is used for processing the grain; the lauter tun is responsible for filtering the mash; the wort kettle is designed for boiling the filtered wort with hops; and the whirlpool is a special vessel used to separate solid particles.
Termo-Pab offers various brewhouse configurations, ranging from 200 to 5,000 liters of wort per brew.
Two-vessel, three-vessel, or four-vessel setups are available. Heating can be provided by steam through a jacket or by a more traditional approach using electric heating elements. Our brewhouses can be equipped with fully automated process control, featuring touchscreen operation and remote monitoring via your smartphone.
